As the University of Cincinnati baseball team kicks off a new decade of action on Friday, Feb. 19, at Florida Atlantic University, the Bearcats wanted to take a look back at the 2000's by selecting a UC Baseball All-Decade Team.

The UC All-Decade team will consist of a 15-man roster and is made up of players who played at least two seasons at Cincinnati from 2000-09. The list was chosen by current and former members of the UC Sports Communications Department using stats and honors from the 2000 season through the 2009 campaign.

CATCHER - CHRIS HAMBLEN (1999-2002)

Chris Hamblen was one of the most talented offensive catchers to play at UC in the 2000's, hitting for average and power, while also serving as a stolen base threat. Hamblen was a two-time all-Conference USA performer, including a first-team performer in 2001. During the 2001 campaign, Hamblen hit .329 with 15 doubles, 12 home runs, and a team-best 66 RBI while starting all 58 games. Hamblen was a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award, an award given to the top collegiate catcher, in 2001, and a semifinalist in 2002. During the 2001 and 2002 seasons, Hamblen combined to hit .334 with 29 doubles, 27 home runs, and 109 RBI. His 15 home runs and 66 RBI in 2002 rank sixth on UC's single-season home runs and RBI charts.


FIRST BASE - Logan Parker (2005-06)

After transferring to UC from New Mexico Junior College, Logan Parker started all 113 games at first base for the Bearcats during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. During the 2005 campaign, Parker led UC in hits (72), doubles (20), home runs (11), and RBI (53), while ranking third on the team in batting average (.313). Despite those impressive numbers, Parker improved in almost every statistical category in 2006. The Odessa, Texas, native hit .344 with 18 doubles, 11 home runs, and seven triples in 2006, while driving in 69 runs and successfully stealing 13 bases in 14 attempts. Parker was a third-team all-BIG EAST selection in 2006 and he sits in the Top 10 on five of UC's single-season charts due to the numbers he put up in 2006.
