Feb. 15, 2010
As the University of Cincinnati baseball team kicks off a new decade of action on Friday, Feb. 19, at Florida Atlantic University, the Bearcats wanted to take a look back at the 2000's by selecting a UC Baseball All-Decade Team.
The UC All-Decade team will consist of a 15-man roster and is made up of players who played at least two seasons at Cincinnati from 2000-09. The list was chosen by current and former members of the UC Sports Communications Department using stats and honors from the 2000 season through the 2009 campaign.
OUTFIELD - Tony Campana (2007-08)
After transferring to Cincinnati from UNC-Asheville, Tony Campana started all 115 games for the Bearcats, stealing 104 bases in his two seasons. The 104 stolen bases are the most in school history, 41 more than the next player, fellow all-decade teammate Josh Harrison. Campana earned all-BIG EAST accolades in his two seasons, garnering second-team honors his junior year and first-team honors his senior year. Campana also earned second-team American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region honors his junior season. In 2007, Campana batted. 329 and stole 60 bases in 74 attempts. The 60 steals are a single-season record and he ranked first nationally in stolen bases per game. During the 2008 campaign Campana hit .338, with eight doubles, eight triples, and 44 stolen bases in 55 attempts. The 44 steals are second most in a single-season in UC history, while the eight triples are the second most in a single season. He currently holds the record for steals in a game (6) and is tied for seventh in school history in triples (9).
