DETROIT, Mich. - The University of Cincinnati tennis team closed out a three-match weekend at Eastern Michigan on Feb. 13 and at Detroit Mercy on Feb. 14. After losing to Eastern Michigan, 5-2, on Saturday, the Bearcats rallied with a 4-3 victory at Detroit to close out weekend action and finished 1-2 overall.
At Eastern Michigan, it was the freshman duo of Elise Woulfe and Caitlin O'Gara that picked up the two wins for UC. Woulfe captured the No. 4 singles match, 7-5, 6-1, while O'Gara snapped a four-match losing streak with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Sunday at Detroit, Woulfe and O'Gara were key again for UC as they posted both of UC's wins in the singles matches, winning easily, 6-0, 6-2, and 6-1, 6-2, respectively. For Woulfe, it was her fourth straight win.
Since UC had already captured the doubles point vs. the Titans winning the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, Detroit's forfeit in the No. 1 singles match was the deciding match giving Cincinnati the 4-3 win.
