CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving squad travels to the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool Wednesday for the start of the BIG EAST Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The meet will run through Saturday.

In 2009, the men's team earned its best ever finish by placing fifth while the women's squad placed eighth.

Josh Schneider was the BIG EAST Most Outstanding Men's Swimmer a year ago after winning three individual titles and setting three meet and school records in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly. He went on to earn honorable mention all-America honors at the NCAA Championship.

Entering the league meet, Schneider is undefeated and ranked atop the BIG EAST in those three events. He was named BIG EAST Swimmer of the Week on Feb. 4, and most recently won three races, setting two Keating Aquatic Center records during the senior day upset of Wright State.

Nathan Williams earned the No. 3 seed in the 500-yard freestyle with his season-best effort of 4:29.75. He also ranks sixth in the 1,650 freestyle (15:54.45), and ninth in the 200 freestyle (1:40.50).

Jeremy Peter ranks No. 2 in the 200 breaststroke (1:58.98), sits third in the 400 Individual Medley (3:55.83), and fourth in the 200 IM (1:49.51)

Stephen Cunningham earned the No. 8 seed in the 1,650 freestyle with a season-best clocking of 15:59.69.

For the women, Liz Hansson is ranked fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.76), No. 7 in the 100 backstroke (56.39), and No. 10 in the 100 freestyle (51.16).

Stephanie Conklin is seeded sixth in both the 100- and 200 breaststroke with qualifying times of 1:04.14 and 2:17.96, respectively.

Elinore de Jong is the No. 9 seed in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 55.91.

Lange Gilby holds the No. 8 seed in the 50 freestyle (23.40) and the No. 9 slot in the 100 freestyle (51.16).
