OUTFIELDERS

Senior Jamel Scott is penciled in as the starting centerfielder for UC in 2010 and looks to recapture his form from 2008 after an injury-plagued 2009 campaign. Scott, who when healthy is one of the top stolen base threats in the country, will be playing next to a familiar teammate in Justin Riddell.

Riddell got off to a hot start last season and completed his sophomore season with a .297 average, six home runs, and 30 RBI.

Junior college transfer Mikel Huston and sophomore Kendal Coleman are the other two outfielders with collegiate experience after Huston played two years at Seward County Community College and Coleman finished his rookie season with the Bearcats hitting .256 with 12 RBI in 34 games.

Additionally, Cleary welcomes freshmen Jake Proctor, Marcus Heath, and redshirt sophomore Anthony Howard to Clifton. Proctor is in contention for one of the starting outfield spots, while he and Heath may also be used on the mound.

Cincinnati opens its 2010 season on Friday, Feb. 19, when it travels to Boca Raton, Fla., to take on Florida Atlantic University.
