NEW YORK, N.Y. - The University of Cincinnati women's indoor track and field team scored points in four events on the final day of the 2010 BIG EAST Championships, led by seven points from sophomore Jenna Heaton and six points from sophomore Aricka Rhodes, as Cincinnati finished the meet in ninth place with 35 points.

In one of the most competitive races of the day, Heaton barely missed out on another personal-best in the 800 with a time of 2:11.51. Heaton was towards the middle of the pack for the first three laps of the race before moving up in the final lap to finish fifth and score four points for UC.

Rhodes was neck-and-neck with the leaders in the opening heat of the 400 meters and crossed the line in a personal-best time of 55.20 to place seventh for Cincinnati. Rhodes was the second UC athlete to score on the day adding two more points to the Bearcats total.

UC closed its scoring in the relays as the 4x800 team of sophomore, Kathy Klump, senior Megan McAuley, sophomore Jenny Harsh, and Heaton combined to cross the line in a school-record time of 8:59.24. UC was in seventh place heading into the final leg of the race when Heaton overcame a 50-meter deficit to get Cincinnati three points.

In the final event of the day, senior Ashley Arnold, freshmen Shanay Portis and Alyssa Edley, and Rhodes collectively finished in fifth place in the 4x400 with a time of 3:47.64. The mark gave Cincinnati four points, moving them past USF for a ninth-place finish.

Senior Catherine Earl also put together a personal-best mark of 42' 10-1/2" in the shot put to just miss out on the scoring.

Villanova captured the women's title with 115 points, followed by Louisville (107), Connecticut (84), West Virginia (76.5), Georgetown (67), Notre Dame (58.50), Syracuse (56), Seton Hall (48), then Cincinnati (35).
