CINCINNATI- University of Cincinnati women's soccer coach Michelle Salmon announced the 2010 spring schedule on Monday. The schedule features six dates with the Bearcats facing two NCAA Tournament teams, along with hosting former alumni at Gettler Stadium.

"We are excited to begin our spring season and continue to develop as a team," said Salmon. "As we begin preparations for the 2010 season, knowing we will play one of the toughest schedules in the country, we wanted to tailor our spring contests to mirror those challenges that we will face next fall."

UC will start the spring slate when it hosts Marshall University on Wednesday, April 7. Four days later, on Sunday, April 11, the team will travel to Indiana University for their first of two road appearances. Cincinnati returns home for a three-game stretch, starting on Saturday, April 17 with the Spring College Showcase against Vanderbilt University. Prior to the game against Vanderbilt, UC and Vanderbilt coaches will host a free clinic for all players under the age of 14 as well as a coaches clinic for high school and club coaches that will be in conjunction with the game.

"This Showcase event is such a rare and tremendous opportunity for the Cincinnati Soccer Community," stated Salmon.

"The Showcase on April 17th will have a clinic with the players and coaches from both teams. The player clinic will give local youth players a chance to be taught by both Cincinnati and Vanderbilt before the game; it will afford these youth players the ability to meet the players before they take the field. The coaches clinic, which is open to high school and club coaches, is a rare inside look at the before, during, and after the game analysis. Last year this clinic had over 225 participants and we anticipate more this year.

"I want to provide an inside look into Cincinnati Soccer, I want the community to know how excited we are about Cincinnati Soccer and the direction we are going not only the BIG EAST, but in the nation as well. We have a talented team that is committed to excelling at all levels. I am confident this showcase will highlight this commitment," said Salmon.

After the Showcase the Bearcats take on the 2009 Atlantic 10 Champions and NCAA Tournament second round qualifier, Dayton, on Friday, April 23. UC will finish out the home stretch the next day, Saturday, April 24 with the annual Alumni match.

The Bearcats close out the 2010 spring schedule with a road match at Ohio State, a 2009 NCAA Tournament second round participant, on Saturday, May 1.
