CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati football athletic trainer Bob Mangine recently received the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute Career Service Award for Contributions to baseball at the 28th Annual Injuries in Baseball Conference in Birmingham, Ala. The award was presented by Dr James Andrews.

Mangine, entering his eighth season with the football program, also serves as the Director of Sports Therapy for Clinical Residency for NovaCare Rehabilitation.

He was presented the award for contributing to participate in the program over the last 28 years and his work in the field of Sports Medicine.

Mangine has a long history in the Sports medicine community in greater Cincinnati and on the National level. He was involved on the Sports Medicine Committee for the United States Soccer Federation for 10 years and the U.S.A. Diving Olympic Program for 23 years, serving as Venue coordinator for aquatics in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta Georgia.

Mangine, a Northern Kentucky resident, has been involved with local high schools sports since 1979 at Beechwood and Covington Catholic helping the programs win 14 football state championships. He was inducted into the Covington Catholic hall of Fame in 2000. He has been an active member of the National Football Foundation Cincinnati Chapter for over 15 years.
