CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team begins the BIG EAST Conference portion of its schedule when it hosts Connecticut on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. The following afternoon the Bearcats take on West Virginia, Sunday, Feb. 6, at Noon. Both matches will be played at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati (4-6, 0-0 BIG EAST) returns home after a six-match road trip that saw it go 3-3, including wins in the final two road matches against IUPUI and Ball State, 7-0 and 6-1, respectively. The Bearcats have now won three of their last four matches.

In singles competition, sophomore Ksenia Slynko continues her winning ways for UC, notching wins in four of her last six matches. She is 3-0 since moving up to the No. 1 singles flight, and on the season owns a 7-3 record in singles competition. The seven wins push her career total to 21.

Freshman Elise Woulfe had a difficult start to the beginning of the season, dropping her first three matches, but since losing at Indiana (Jan. 30) has come on strong, reeling off seven consecutive wins, including a 5-1 mark in the No. 4 singles flight. Overall on the season Woulfe is 7-3.

Sophomore Safiyya Ismail won her third consecutive match against Ball State, winning in two sets, 6-3, 6-4, while freshman Caitlin O'Gara evened her season record at 5-5 with a two set victory, 6-4, 6-3. O'Gara has now won four of her last five matches, including a 4-1 mark in the No. 5 singles flight.

In doubles competition, the duo of Slynko and Woulfe has won four matches in a row and owns an overall record of 4-2.

Ismail and junior Lindsey Lonergan have won two matches in a row, evening their overall record at 3-3 in doubles competition.

Cincinnati shutout Connecticut twice last season, 7-0, defeating them once in Storrs, Conn., and again in the BIG EAST Conference Women's Tennis Championships.

The Bearcats did not play West Virginia last season.
