CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati tennis team picked up its third straight win with a 4-3 victory over Connecticut in its BIG EAST opener on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.

The Bearcats pulled out to an early lead in the match sweeping doubles action vs. the Huskies. The No. 1 team of Safiyya Ismail/Lindsey Lonergan won, 8-1, with Ksenia Slynko/Elise Woulfe and Abby Mayo/Caitlin O'Gara taking the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, 8-4 and 8-6, respectively. Slynko and Woulfe have now won five doubles matches in a row as a team.

In singles play, it was the hot hands of Slynko, Lonergan, and O'Gara who pulled the match out for UC, winning the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 flights for Cincinnati. The wins extended each player's individual winning streaks. Slynko has now won four straight, followed by Lonergan and O'Gara who have each won three in a row.

The Bearcats finish the opening weekend of BIG EAST play Sunday at Noon vs. West Virginia at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club in Cincinnati.
