CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team, for the seventh time in nine matches is on the road, as it travels to Akron, Saturday, March 6, at 10 a.m. The match will be played at LaTuchie Tennis Center in Stow, Ohio.

Cincinnati (5-7, 1-1 BIG EAST) began conference play last weekend, defeating Connecticut in the opener, 4-3 (Feb. 27). The following evening UC was defeated by West Virginia, 5-2 (Feb. 28).

In singles action, sophomore Ksenia Slynko was victorious in both of her matches in BIG EAST play and remains undefeated, at 5-0, since moving up to the No. 1 singles flight. Slynko, who has now won six of her last eight matches, has a five-match winning streak, and is 9-3 on the season.

Caitlin O'Gara swept both of her matches in dramatic fashion against Connecticut and West Virginia, winning both matches in three-sets, 6-2, 6-7 (0-5), 6-2, and 7-6 (2-0), 6-7 (0-14), 10-8, respectively. The freshman from Springboro, Ohio, has now won four matches in a row and improves her record to 7-5 on the season.

Junior Lindsey Lonergan went 1-1 in the two-match homestand, winning against Connecticut 6-4, 6-3, and then falling against West Virginia in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. She has won three of her last four matches overall.

Freshman Elise Woulfe had a seven-match winning streak snapped against Connecticut, as she fell 6-3, 6-2. The following day against West Virginia, Woulfe dropped a tough two-set decision 6-4, 7-6 (4-0). She is now 5-3 in the No. 4 singles flight and 7-5 on the season.

The doubles pair of Slynko and Woulfe had a five-match winning streak snapped against West Virginia. On the season, the duo has compiled a 5-3 record in doubles competition.

The match against Akron marks the third opponent the Bearcats have faced that is ranked among the top 75 teams nationally, as determined by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Akron is currently No. 67.

The Bearcats hosted Akron a season ago and defeated the Zips, 5-2.
