RIO VERDE, Ariz. - Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) placed 13th to lead the University of Cincinnati women's golf team to a 10th-place team finish at the Rio Verde Invitational on March 5-7 at the Quail Run Golf Course.
Dela Paz carded rounds of 77-74-76=227, good for 13th place. Ashley Bauer of Michigan was the individual champ, shooting a tournament-record 68-68-73=209, topping second-place Robyn Scott of Eastern Michigan by nine strokes.
Jenny Linville (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) finished 37th with a three-round total of 82-79-74=235. Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Valley Grammar) was 43rd, shooting a 79-76-81=236 and Kristin Price (Dandridge, Tenn./Jefferson County) placed 52nd, carding rounds of 77-80-81=238.
The Bearcats finished 10th, four shots back of host Western Michigan (317-306-308=931). Michigan won the team title with a 291-287-303=881, 14 shots ahead of second-place Minnesota. The Wolverines became the first team to win the Rio Verde Invitational twice.
Cincinnati heads to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Low Country Intercollegiate on March 13-14.
