CINCINNATI - Katie Kiriazoglou scored three goals and handed out five assists, setting a school record for points and assists in a game, leading the University of Cincinnati (2-1) to an 18-4 victory over visiting Presbyterian College (1-7) on Saturday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.
Kiriazoglou, a freshman, spent the first half setting up her teammates, recording all of her assists in the first period. The Bearcats owned a 13-0 advantage at halftime, marking the first time UC has shut out an opponent in a half. Kiriazoglou provided assists for Laura Simanski, Katie Liberatore, Ali Mattingly, Gabby Sinmaz, and for Marissa Pierson's first collegiate goal.
In the second half, Kiriazoglou found the back of the net three times, all off assists from classmate Liberatore. Natalie Starvaggi set up two goals in the second stanza, one to Jen Mott, who notched her first collegiate goal, and one to LB Zinkand in the final minute of the game.
Starvaggi scored two goals for Cincinnati, one on a free position attempt and one from Zinkand, and she handed out an assist to Jess Kazaks for UC's final goal of the first half. Zinkand scored on a feed from Liberatore while Simanski, Liberatore, MacKenzie Parsons, and Shannon Lynes each recorded unassisted goals in the first half.
Katherine Russo earned the win in goal for UC, splitting the game with Haley Marvine. Each goalkeeper recorded four saves for UC.
Presbyterian recorded four unassisted goals, one from Kirstin Stenoien, Jenna Handshoe, Lauren Lefeber, and Marie-Lise Dimitrew.
Cincinnati won the draw control battle, 15-9, and recorded 32 ground balls for the game.
The Bearcats will begin a four-game road swing at Oregon on March 20.
