CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team split a BIG EAST Conference weekend vs. Louisville and Villanova, losing to the Cardinals, 6-1, on Friday before routing Villanova, 7-0, on Saturday. The win over Villanova stopped a UC three-match losing streak and is the team's second shutout of the year.

On Friday at Louisville, the Bearcats battled the Cardinals throughout the match losing two singles contests in three sets. Sophomore Ksenia Slynko picked up Cincinnati's lone victory at the No. 1 singles position with a 6-4, 7-6 (3-0) victory. The win was Slynko's sixth in her last seven matches.

Cincinnati picked up its second win vs. BIG EAST competition winning all seven points vs. Villanova on Saturday at home at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club. The Bearcats jumped out to the early 1-0 lead, taking all three doubles matches with Lindsey Lonergan and Safiyya Ismail teaming up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 and the teams of Slynko and Elise Woulfe and Caitlin O'Gara and Abby Mayo capturing 8-4 victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.

UC picked up straight set win in five of six singles matches vs. the Wildcats with Mayo completing the sweep with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 come-from-behind three-set win at the No. 6 spot.

The Bearcats are now 6-9 on the season and 2-2 vs. BIG EAST competition. They are off next week due to final exams, but return to action on March 25 when they play the first of two Spring Break matches in Las Vegas vs. Southern Utah.
