THE MATCH-UP
The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team hits the road after two home games, heading west for a four-game road swing. The Bearcats, now 2-1 on the year, will play at Oregon on Saturday, March 20 at 1 p.m. (PST). The game marks the second time the Bearcats have faced an opponent from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Last season UC defeated Fresno State, a member of the MPSF, at Nippert Stadium, 18-3. Cincnnati is coming off an 18-4 victory over Presbyterian while the Ducks defeated Iona, 15-11. Both teams have had seven days rest.

LAST TIME OUT
Katie Kiriazoglou scored three goals and handed out five assists, setting a school record for points and assists in a game, leading UC to an 18-4 victory over visiting Presbyterian College. Kiriazoglou spent the first half setting up her teammates, recording all of her assists in the first period. The Bearcats owned a 13-0 advantage at halftime, marking the first time UC has shut out an opponent in a half. Kiriazoglou provided assists for Laura Simanski, Katie Liberatore, Ali Mattingly, Gabby Sinmaz, and for Marissa Pierson's first collegiate goal. In the second half, Kiriazoglou found the back of the net three times, all off assists from classmate Liberatore. Natalie Starvaggi set up two goals in the second stanza, one to Jen Mott, who notched her first collegiate goal, and one to LB Zinkand in the final minute of the game.

NATIONALLY RANKED
As a team, Cincinnati is ranked No. 1 in the nation for its ground balls per game average (34.0). Sophomore goalkeeper Katherine Russo is ranked No. 1 in the country (out of 300) for her .654 save percentage. She is seventh in the country with 11.0 saves per game. Russo recorded four saves and earned a win in goal in UC's 18-4 win over Presbyterian and in the previous game, against Duquesne, she set a school record with 23 saves. Sophomore attack Laura Simanski and junior Natalie Starvaggi are ranked No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, in ground balls per game. Simanski averages 4.33 ground balls and Starvaggi get 4.0 ground balls per game. is ranked No. 22 with 3.5, and Mercier and Stratton both rank No. 43 with 3.0 ground balls per game. Freshman attack Katie Liberatore leads UC with seven points this season (6 G, 1 A) and is ranked No. 31 in the country with her 3.0 goals per game average.

CAS SCHOLAR ATHLETE
Senior Patty Kelly was named the College of Applied Science Scholar Athlete of the Month for the month of March. Kelly, a tri-captain, has a 3.60 grade point average in electronic media.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katherine Russo was named the BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week after her outstanding performances in the first two games of the season for the Bearcats. Russo's honor is the second time that a Cincinnati player has earned a weekly conference honor after the first week of play in a season. Last season, Laura Simanski was named the BIG EAST's Offensive Player of the Week after the opening week of play for the Bearcats.

BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
Katie Kiriazoglou recorded a school-record eight points and a school-record five assists in UC's victory over Presbyterian and earned BIG EAST Honor Roll status as a result. Katie Liberatore was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after the first week of play this season. She finished the week with seven points, including five goals against Duquesne.

MISSING MARSHALL
The Bearcats lost one starter from the 2009 season, senior Lindsey Marshall. Marshall finished her career as the school leader in career goals (64), career caused turnovers (39), career ground balls (59) and career points (69).

KELLY KELLY
Senior Patty Kelly is one of the 2010 team captains and her sister, junior Lauren Kelly, became the school leader in career ground balls in UC's win over Presbyterian. She now has 60 career ground balls, passing Lindsey Marshall's previous record of 59 ground balls. She needs to cause nine turnovers to become the school leader in career caused turnovers.

BURTON BRINGS IT
Junior attack Lynsey Burton scored the first goal in program history at the 22:10 mark on a free position shot at Vanderbilt in 2008. Last season she scored UC's first goal in the first three games of the season. She ranks third in school history with 37 career goals.
