CINCINNATI - Jeremy Bonomo and Christopher Black will join the University of Cincinnati men's soccer coaching staff, head coach Hylton Dayes announced on Monday (March 22).
"We look forward to Jeremy and Chris joining our staff," said Dayes. "They are both excellent coaches and will fit in well with our staff, players, and the UC community"
Bonomo, the head coach at Division II Assumption College for the last three seasons, joins the staff as an assistant coach. Bonomo held a 21-21-11 mark in his three seasons at Assumption, including a 9-6-3 record in 2009 that included a final No. 10 ranking in the NSCAA East Regional Ranking. Prior to his stint at Assumption, he spent two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Southern New Hampshire. Bonomo has six years of club coaching experience, including three years as the head coach of FC Puma in Shrewsbury, Mass.
Bonomo played collegiately at Southern New Hampshire, where he was a team captain and defender on teams that posted a 62-14-10 record during his career his career. SNHU made four Northeast-10 Conference playoff appearances and earned two league championships, advancing to three NCAA Division II tournaments. Bonomo graduated from SNHU cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2002 and received his Masters in Business Adminstration with a certificate in Operations Management in 2006. He holds a United States Soccer Federation `C' License.
Black, a former assistant coach at Wright State and four-year starter at Findlay, joins the Bearcats as goalkeepers coach. He spent the last four seasons at Wright State as assistant women's coach and added assistant men's coaching duties in 2009. Prior to his time at Wright State, the Ohio native spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the girl's soccer program at Miamisburg High School, his alma mater. Black spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the men's and women's programs at Findlay, helping the Oilers to a 21-7-6 record, including a 13-2-2 mark during the 2001 season
An active member of the club soccer scene, Black is involved with the Ohio Galaxies Futbol Club and the Ohio South Olympic Development Program. He also has over a decade of experience with summer camp instructing and administration. A 2001 graduate of Findlay with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Black holds coaching certificates that include the USSF National `D' License, NSCAA Regional and National Goalkeeper Diploma, and NSCAA National and Advanced National Diploma.
The Bearcats are in the midst of spring practice and will open the spring season on April 9 against Indiana in Bloomington.
