STANFORD, Calif. - Laura Simanski scored all four of the University of Cincinnati (2-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) lacrosse team's goals, but No. 9/13 Stanford (5-2, 0-0 MPSF) proved too much for the Bearcats, winning 19-4 at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Stanford held the Bearcats scoreless until 9:41 was left in the first half, rattling off 12 goals before Simanski scored an unassisted goal. The Cardinal tacked on two more goals before halftime, holding a 14-1 advantage at intermission.
Stanford scored four goals to start the second half before Simanski found the back of the net on two free position attempts. Simanski scored another unassisted goal before the Cardinal finished the scoring with 4:13 left in the game.
The Bearcats only attempted four free position shots and picked up eight ground balls to Stanford's 21. UC won the draw control battle, 13-12, but was outshot, 35-9 for the game - 27 coming in the first half.
Cincinnati will play tomorrow, March 23, at Fresno State in a 4 p.m. (PST) game.
