CINCINNATI - Kahla Roudebush (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) earned team most valuable player honors at the University of Cincinnati women's basketball postseason banquet on Sunday in the Lindner Center.
Roudebush, who was named second-team all-BIG EAST for the second straight season in 2009-10, led the Bearcats and ranked 13th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 14.0 points per game and ranks in the Top 10 in school history in eight statistical categories. She is 10th in career scoring with 1,463 points. She also also ranks third in three-point FG (201), third in three-point attempts (526), second in three-point percentage (.382), seventh in free throw percentage (.777), 10th in field goal attempts (1,178), sixth in minutes played (3,614), and ninth in games played (117).
She led the Bearcats in scoring in each of the last three seasons and rarely came off the floor. Over the last three seasons (87 games), she has averaged 37.0 minutes per contest, including playing 38.5 minutes per game in 2008-09, which led the BIG EAST and ranked No. 8 in the nation.
Michelle Jones (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) was named the team's Most Improved Player. Jones started all 30 games this season after making zero starts last season. She averaged 10.0 points and a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per game. This season, Jones became the 13th player in school history to post 1,000 career points and 600 career rebounds.
Shareese Ulis (Toledo, Ohio/Trinity Valley C.C.) earned the Unsung Hero Award. Ulis was second on the squad with an 11.6 point-per-game average and led the Bearcats in assists, starting all 30 games.
Carla Jacobs (Cleveland, Ohio/Regina) was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year. Jacobs regularly matched up with the opposition's top player and posted 1.0 steal and 4.1 rebounds per game. She also added 10 blocked shots, while averaging 8.8 points and 2.3 assists per contest.
Head coach Jamelle Elliott and Director of Athletics Mike Thomas addressed the crowd, which included players, coaches, staff members, donors, and season ticket holders.
