MARTIN, Tenn. - Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) posted a three-round 71-77-79=227 to finish in a tie for 19th and lead the University of Cincinnati men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the spring-opening Grover Page Classic on March 1-2.
Kastelic led three Bearcats that finished in the Top 30. David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) was 25th with a 78-75-76=229 and Andrew Desmarais (Union, Ky./Ryle) was one shot behind, carding a 75-76-79=230.
Matt Ledom (Leawood, Kan./Rockhurst Jesuit Prep) was 44th with a three-round total of 77-79-80=236.
Central Arkansas won the team title by 30 shots, posting rounds of 277-279-291=847, good for 17 under par. North Alabama was second with rounds of 289-291-297=877 at 13 over par.
The Bearcats were just one shot back of sixth-place Southern Illinois with rounds of 300-309-312=921.
Central Arkansas' Gideon Pienaar beat out teammate Josh Sims by one stroke for the individual title, firing a 68-69-72=209, seven under par.
The Bearcats are next in action at the Ron Smith/USF Invitational on March 5-7 in Tampa, Fla.
