CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team improved to 9-9 on the season after knocking off the University of Dayton, 4-3, at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center on Wednesday, March 31. The win extended UC's winning streak to four matches.
The Flyers jumped out on top early, winning the doubles point with victories in the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. UC's Ksenia Slynko and Elise Woulfe teamed up at the No. 2 spot and earned the Bearcats win, dominating 8-2.
Slynko and Woulfe came up big for the Bearcats again in singles play as they notched two of UC's four wins. Slynko, who is 9-1 in her last 10 matches, took the No. 1 spot with a 6-3, 6-3 sweep while Woulfe captured the No. 4 flight with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set victory giving her four straight wins.
Junior Lindsey Lonergan and freshman Caitlin O'Gara secured the match for UC with wins in the No. 3 and No. 5 spots. Lonergan won her match 6-1, 6-2, while O'Gara went 6-2, 6-2.
The Bearcats, who are 2-2 in BIG EAST Conference play, return to league action on Friday when they travel to DePaul for a 5 p.m. CT match.
