CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team hits the road this weekend, as it travels to Huntington, W.Va., to battle No. 55 Marshall, on Saturday, April 10, at 10 a.m. The following day the Bearcats match-up against conference rival Pittsburgh on Sunday, April 11, at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Brian David Fox Tennis Courts on the campus of Marshall University.
Cincinnati (9-10, 2-3 BIG EAST) was defeated by No. 26 DePaul last week (April 2), 7-0, but has won 4 of its past 5 matches. The match-up against the Thundering Herd marks the second consecutive road match against a nationally-ranked opponent, and fifth overall on the season for the Bearcats.
Against DePaul, sophomore Ksenia Slynko had a three-match winning streak snapped, 3-6, 2-6. On the season she is 9-2 in the No. 1 singles flight and 14-5 overall.
Freshmen Caitlin O'Gara and Elise Woulfe enter the weekend with identical 11-8 records, while O'Gara is 7-3 in her last ten matches.
The doubles team of Slynko and Woulfe had a three-match winning streak come to an end against DePaul, but on the season the duo is 9-6 and has won three of four overall.
UC and Marshall met a season ago with the Bearcats falling, 7-0. Last year Cincinnati knocked off Pittsburgh in the regular season, at home, 6-1, but were then defeated by the Panthers in the first round of the BIG EAST Championships, 4-3.
