BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - D.J. Albert scored in the first half and the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team played Indiana to a 1-1 draw in the Bearcats' spring season opener on April 9 at IU's Armstrong Stadium.

Mark Konitsch sent a free kick into the box in the 15th minute and Albert knocked it past Indiana keeper Luis Soffner to give UC a 1-0 lead.

Will Bruin scored the equalizer for the Hoosiers in the 58th minute, getting an assist from Joe Tolen.

"It was a good start to our spring season," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "We were able to score off a set piece, which is something we've been working on in training. Indiana is a quality team with many returning players, so it was a good measuring stick for us. I was pleased with the overall effort of the guys."

Cincinnati is 0-0-1 on the spring season, while Indiana is 1-0-1.

Indiana held a 9-6 advantage in shots, but UC had eight corner kicks to IU's two.

The Bearcats are next in action on Sunday, April 11, taking on Kentucky in Gettler Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
