CINCINNATI - Ryan Lavigne (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) scored in the first half and the University of Cincinnati added two more goals to post a 3-0 win against Kentucky on April 11 at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats are 1-0-1 on the spring season and have allowed just one goal in two matches.

Sam Klosterman (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) tallied his first goal of the spring in the first half with an assist from D.J. Albert (Park City, Ill.).

With UC leading 2-0 in the second half, Branden Stelmak (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), UC's leading scorer in 2009, capped the scoring for the Bearcats with his first goal of the spring on an assist from Nick Weightman (Lanark, Scotland/St. Aidans).

Matt Williams (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) and Joey Barnard (McKinney, Texas/McKinney) combined for the shutout in goal.

"We are pleased with the result. Whenever you can score three goals and not allow any, that is a good outing," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "The guys competed well considering it was our second match in three days. The early goal by Ryan really set the tone."

The Bearcats will continue the spring season, hosting Cincinnati State on Friday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in Gettler Stadium.
