THE MATCH-UPS
The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team plays its final weekend series at home, hosting No. 11 Syracuse on Friday, April 23, at 5 p.m. and welcoming Connecticut on Sunday, April 25 for a noon game that will serve as Senior Day for the Bearcats' four seniors.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Fans of the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team are encouraged to wear pink when attending the BIG EAST Conference game against Syracuse this Friday, April 23, at 5 p.m. The Bearcats will wear pink uniforms during the game against the Orange in order to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer and Syracuse will participate by wearing pink shoe laces.
Breast Cancer Statistics
* Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women touched with cancer in the U.S.
* Approximately 211,000 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year.
* Approximately 39,800 women in the U.S. will die from breast cancer this year.
* If breast cancer is detected and treated early, the survival rate is nearly 100 percent.

LAST TIME OUT
Katie Kiriazoglou scored three goals and handed out five assists leading UC to a 15-9 victory over visiting Jacksonville in non-conference action at Nippert Stadium on April 18. The Bearcats scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back. Kiriazoglou took a pass from MacKenzie Parsons just 16 seconds into the game and scored. Shannon Lynes scored from Kiriazoglou and then Parsons found the back of the net on a free position attempt. Marissa Pierson and Natalie Starvaggi scored back-to-back goals from Kiriazoglou and Laura Simanski scored from Lynes before Jacksonville rattled off three straight goals. Maddie Fink stopped the JU scoring with a goal from Kiriazoglou but the Dolphins responded with two goals. Rachel Mercier scored on a free position attempt and Kiriazoglou scored her second first-half goal with 1:58 remaining. Jacksonville finished the first half scoring with a free position goal with 1:29 left in the period, making the score 9-6. Lynes started the scoring in the second half on a pass from Starvaggi and Simanski recorded a goal from Lynes with 24:37 on the scoreboard. Starvaggi scored from Ali Mattingly to give the Bearcats a 12-6 advantage. Both Jacksonville and UC scored three goals to end the game with Kiriazoglou, Mercier (from Starvaggi), and Simanski (from Kiriazoglou) each scoring for the Bearcats. Cincinnati won the draw control battle, 16-10, and scored on two of its three free position attempts. Katherine Russo was outstanding in goal for UC, saving 21.

VS. OPPONENTS
Cincinnati played Syracuse and Connecticut last season, in the Bearcats first season as a lacrosse member of the BIG EAST Conference. The Bearcats played both games on the road and lost, 11-9, to UConn and 23-7 to then No. 8 ranked Syracuse. UC hosted No. 5 Syracuse in its first season of play, falling 23-4 at Nippert Stadium.

STREAKIN'
Sophomore Laura Simanski has the team's longest point-streak, 16. Simanski recorded a point in every game her freshman year until the Bearcats played Loyola. She started her streak with two goals against Louisville last season and has a point in every 2010 game.

CAS SCHOLAR ATHLETE
Senior Patty Kelly was named the College of Applied Science Scholar Athlete of the Month for the month of March. Kelly, a tri-captain, has a 3.60 grade point average in electronic media.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katherine Russo was named the BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week (March 8) after her outstanding performances in the first two games of the season for the Bearcats. Russo's honor is the second time that a Cincinnati player has earned a weekly conference honor after the first week of play in a season. Last season, Laura Simanski was named the BIG EAST's Offensive Player of the Week after the opening week of play for UC.

BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
Katherine Russo recorded 34 saves, 21 against Jacksonville, and was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll as a result of her efforts (April 19). Laura Simanski totaled 12 points, including 11 goals in a 2-1 road trip; had five points, including four goals in a 12-7 win at St. Mary's (Calif.) and earned BIG EAST Honor Roll plaudit (March 29). Katie Kiriazoglou recorded a school-record eight points and a school-record five assists in UC's victory over Presbyterian and earned BIG EAST Honor Roll status as a result (March 15). Katie Liberatore was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after the first week of play this season (March 8). She finished the week with seven points, including five goals against Duquesne.

MISSING MARSHALL
The Bearcats lost one starter from the 2009 season, senior Lindsey Marshall. Marshall finished her career as the school leader in career goals (64), career caused turnovers (39), career ground balls (59) and career points (69).

KELLY KELLY
Senior Patty Kelly is one of the 2010 team captains and her sister, junior Lauren Kelly, became the school leader in career ground balls in UC's win over Presbyterian. She now has 64 career ground balls, passing Lindsey Marshall's previous record of 59 ground balls but she is currently ranked second in UC history after Paige Stratton surpassed her career total of 64. Stratton has 69 career ground balls. Lauren Kelly needs to cause seven turnovers to become the school leader in career caused turnovers.

SMOOTH SIMANSKI
Sophomore attack Laura Simanski became the school's leader in career goals against Saint Mary's. She has 33 goals in 2010 and 80 career goals, passing Lindsey Marshall's previous record of 64 career goals. She and Katie Kiriazoglou lead the team with 37 points on the year.

DROPPIN' DIMES
Freshman attack Katie Kiriazoglou has handed out five assists in a game -- a UC record -- three times this season and has a team-high 22 assists. She is the school leader in career assists, passing the previous school record of 11, against Fresno State.

TURNING THE PAIGE
Junior Paige Stratton has 29 ground balls this season, surpassing teammate Lauren Kelly as the career leader at UC with 69. Stratton plays defense and has scored one goal, starting every game in 2010.

STAR SHINING
Junior Natalie Starvaggi recorded three unassisted goals against Louisville and has 14 goals and 10 assists on the year. The tri-captain has 27 ground balls this season.

MAC ATTACK
Sophomore MacKenzie Parsons has scored nine times this season and has picked up 22 ground balls and caused a team-high 13 turnovers.

ALI
Sophomore attack Ali Mattingly, the tallest player on UC's squad, has a team-high 26 draw controls. She has scored six goals on 10 shots and has handed out four assists.
