CINCINNATI - The No. 11 Syracuse Orange (11-4, 5-1 BIG EAST) lacrosse team scored 13 first half goals and went on to defeat the University of Cincinnati (5-9, 0-5 BIG EAST), 19-3, in BIG EAST Conference action on Friday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.
UC got its first goal from MacKenzie Parsons at the 16:31 mark of the first half. Ali Mattingly scored on a free position attempt in the second half and Rachel Mercier closed out the scoring for the game with an unassisted goal at the 2:38 mark.
Katherine Russo and Haley Marvine split time in goal for the Bearcats, each finishing with four saves.
The Bearcats will finish the home portion of the 2010 schedule when they host Connecticut on Sunday, April 25, for a noon BIG EAST game. Seniors Jess Kazaks, Shannon Lynes, Patty Kelly, and Jen Mott will be recognized prior to the game for their contributions at UC.
