South Bend, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team, the No. 9 seed, had its stay at the BIG EAST Championships ended in the second round, dropping a 4-2 decision to No. 12-seed Connecticut at the Courtney Tennis Center in Notre Dame, Ind. On April 23.
Despite losing the doubles point and the No. 6 and No. 4 singles and trailing 3-0 in the match, the Bearcats continued to fight to come from behind. UC took the next two points in the match to cut the score to 3-2 with wins by Saffiya Ismail (6-2, 6-1) and Lindsey Lonergan (6-3, 7-6) at the No. 2 and 3, respectively.
The Huskies were able to close out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ksenia Slynko at the No. 1 position. The loss was Slynko's first in five career BIG EAST Championship matches.
The Bearcats finished the season with an 11-13 record.
