CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team closed out its 2010 season with a 27-21 loss against Xavier in the annual Chili Crosstown Shootout on Tuesday at Maketehwah Country Club.
The event followed a Ryder Cup hybrid format, with 12 alternate shot matches being played in the morning and eight individual and four best ball matches being played in the afternoon.
Each match was worth three total points as the teams earned one point for winning the front nine, one point for winning the back nine and one point for winning the match.
Xavier won the match on the final hole as two Musketeers made birdies to secure the victory. If both had missed, the even would have ended in a tie.
The Bearcats finished eighth at the 2010 BIG EAST Championships last week, with Joe Kastelic leading the way, finishing tied for 12th.
UC's top five golfers consitsted of one junior (Kastelic) and four freshmen.
