CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team dropped its spring finale, 3-2, to the USL Premier Development League's Dayton Dutch Lions on Tuesday at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats, who suffered their first loss of the spring campaign, had a 2-1 lead late in the match, but Dayton scored twice in the final eight minutes.

"This was a very exciting game with five goals," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "Playing a team like the Dutch Lions with so many experienced players was a good test for us. It was disappointing to lose the late lead, but overall this has been a very successful spring season. We had good results, but more importantly we made significant progress as a team as far as our level of play. This bodes well for the upcoming fall season."

Branden Stelmak scored off a long throw-in by Sam Klosterman in the first half. UC went to the lockerroom with a 1-0 lead.

The Dutch Lions tied it up midway through second half, but Matt Bahner scored off a cross to push UC back in front, 2-1.

Dayton then tied the match at 2-2 and minutes later scored the winner off a long-rang shot.

Matt Williams played the first 69 minutes in goal for the Bearcats and Joey Barnard finished the match.

UC finished the spring season with a 4-1-1 record.
