CINCINNATI - On Friday, May 7, 2010, the University of Cincinnati will team up with RallyCats and CPAWS to host the fourth annual Fast Friday: Hamilton County Athletes Unite at UC's Sheakley Lawn, Armory Field House, and Gettler Stadium.
Fast Friday is an event in which children and adults with mental and developmental disabilities will have the opportunity to interact and compete with UC students and student-athletes in races and events that are organized in a structure similar to track meets. Student-athletes from 14 of UC's varsity sports will be in attendance.
After these events, the participants will have lunch, followed by an afternoon of informal games of kickball, wiffleball, and many others.
As part of UC's CATapult vision, the Department of Athletics and its coaches and student-athletes have completed over 3,000 hours of service to the greater Cincinnati community since the start of the 2009-10 scholastic year.
Registration for Fast Friday is at 9 a.m. Friday, and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy the event. It is meant to be a day of fun and promote interaction between Hamilton County Special Olympics and University of Cincinnati students. Over 200 Special Olympians and coaches are expected to attend.
For more information on Fast Friday, contact RallyCat member and creator of the event, Kendall Adkins at 740-412-4370 or Adkins.kp@gmail.com.
