CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team completed its 2010 recruiting class inking Minnesota native Lauren Grant to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Reed Sunahara announced today.

Grant comes to Cincinnati from Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Minn., where she was a two-time all-state selection and a three-time All-Lake Conference performer. In 2008, Grant was named to the All-State Tournament Team, leading the Lightning to a state runner-up finish.

During her final prep season, the 6-4 right-side accumulated 315 kills en route to a .390 hitting percentage, served up 41 aces, and tallied 75 total blocks, 23 of which were solo blocks.

In addition to her accolades in high school, Grant played club volleyball for Mizuno Northern Lights and helped the club to back-to-back-to-back AAU National Championships from 2007 to 2009. Grant also helped the club place third in the United States Junior Olympics Open Division in 2007 and 2008, while claiming second-place honors during the 2009 campaign.

Prior to the 2009 high school season, Grant was ranked among the Top 250 high school players on the PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces List. She is one of three Senior Aces performers that will be attending UC in the fall.

Grant joins Juliana Behrens, a 6-1 outside hitter from Honolulu, Hawai'i, and Brittany Haber, a 6-2 middle blocker from St. Petersburg, Fla., to form the 2010 freshman class. Behrens and Haber signed their National Letters of Intent in November.
