Carl, Stamper Compete in Metro Amateur Championship

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati sophomore Alex Carl (Union, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) and former UC golfer Sarah Stamper competed in the 2010 Cincinnati Women's Metropolitan Amateur Championship this week at Clovernook Country Club.

Carl advanced to the semifinal of match play, where she fell to Allison Schultz in 19 holes. Carl defeated Kelly Gaughan, 5 and 3, in the Round of 16 before topping Julie Sizemore, 4 and 2, in the quarters.

Stamper, who completed her eligibility at UC in 2009, defeated Maggie Sahms, 3 and 2, in the round of 16. She pushed Schultz to 22 holes before falling in the quarterfinals.

Schultz, who plays collegiately at Toledo, will take on Marissa Steen, who plays at Memphis, in the championship match on June 17.
