CINCINNATIFive University of Cincinnati golfers will take part in amateur championship events this week.

Bambee Dela Paz will compete in the the 110th Women's Western Golf Association Amateur Championship at the Rochester Golf and Country Club in Rochester, Minn. Dela Paz, a 2010 all-BIG EAST honoree, led the Bearcats in scoring average in 2009-10 with a 77.6 average over 30 rounds. She posted a second-place finish at the Jacksonville University Classic and finished 10th at the BIG EAST Championships.

The WWGA Amateur Championship opens with 18-hole qualifying rounds on June 21 and 22. Five rounds of 18-hole match play begins on June 23 with a 36-hole championship match taking place on Saturday, June 26.

Founded in 1901, under sponsorship of the Western Golf Association, the Women's Western Golf Association has conducted National Championships for 109 years.

Four men's players - Zack Bates, Joe Kastelic, Nick Proud, and David Tepe - will take part in the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association's Tony Blom Metropolitan Amateur Championship.

Qualifying rounds take place on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22, with match play on June 23-27 at the Ridge Club at Losantiville Country Club in Pleasant Ridge.

Bates, Kastelic, and Tepe were regulars for the UC men's team in 2009-10, with Kastelic leading the way with a 74.4 stroke average across 29 rounds.
