PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Former Bearcat golfer Jim Herman fired a final round three-under 68 to finish in a tie for 47th at the 110th U.S. Open Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links over the weekend.

In a tournament in which only one player finished at even par - champion Graeme McDowell - Herman posted a superb final round which featured three birdies and two eagles and tied with three others for the best final round score on an extremely difficult U.S. Open course.

A Nationwide Tour player, who earned his first career win in Australia in February, was playing in his first U.S. Open. He made the cut on Friday to earn the chance to play the weekend and after shooting a disappointing 81 on Saturday, followed up with a 68 to finish even with PGA Tour veterans Luke Donald and K.J. Choi.

Herman is eighth on the Nationwide money list this season. He earned a spot in the U.S. Open, making through local and sectional qualifying in Summit, N.J.
