CINCINNATI- Bambee Dela Paz qualified to the first of five rounds of match play in the 110th Women's Western Golf Association Amateur Championship at the Rochester Golf and Country Club in Rochester, Minn. Dela Paz posted rounds of 84-77=161 in the qualifying to advance.
Dela Paz will tee off at 11:00 a.m. today in an 18-hole knock out match against Andrea Unson, also from the Philippines, who qualified with rounds of 73-74=147. Today's matches start the 64-man match play portion of the championship with a 36-hole championship match on Saturday, June 26.
A 2010 all-BIG EAST honoree, Dela Paz led the Bearcats in scoring average in 2009-10 with a 77.6 average over 30 rounds. She posted a second-place finish at the Jacksonville University Classic and finished 10th at the BIG EAST Championships.
Founded in 1901, under sponsorship of the Western Golf Association, the Women's Western Golf Association has conducted National Championships for 109 years.
