WEST HARRISON, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati football team held a two-hour workout under the lights at the Higher Ground Conference and Retreat Center Thursday, as the team wrapped up its first of two weeks in West Harrison, Ind. As has been the case throughout the preseason, special teams got a major focus with periods of field goal, punt and punt return and kickoff featured. In addition to numerous position group drills, there were 1-on-1 sessions with the defensive backs and receivers on a long field and in the red zone.
Members of UCATS' George Smith Society were on hand for the evening at Higher Ground. The patrons joined the team for dinner, sitting with UC players and coaches, before attending position group meetings, and taking in the two-hour workout from the field.
A crew of BIG EAST Conference officials has been at practice the past few days. The officials took time to meet with UC coaches and players to go over decisions and rules of emphasis for the 2010 season.

Former UC defensive back Aaron Webster signed a two-year deal with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday. Webster originally signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in the spring.

UC will return to the field for single practices on both Friday and Saturday at Higher Ground ahead of Meet the Team Day Sunday at Kings Island. UC is scheduled to return to campus on the morning of Aug. 26. All practices at Higher Ground are closed to the general public.
KINGS ISLAND MEET THE TEAM EVENT ON SUNDAY, AUG. 22 FROM 1-3 P.M.
On Sunday, Aug. 22, head coach Butch Jones and the two-time defending BIG EAST Champions will make the trek to Kings Island for their annual "Meet the Team Day." Beginning at 12:45 pm, the team will walk down International Street and will take part in a program on the main stage underneath the Eiffel Tower. Following the short program, student-athletes will take part in an autograph session until 3 p.m.

The Bearcats open the 2010 season on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Fresno State. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
