Here's a look at what's coming up this week in UC sports:

  • The football team kicks off the 2010 season with a game against Fresno State at 10 p.m. ET Saturday in Fresno, Calif. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The Bearcats finished the 2009 regular season ranked #3 with a 12-0 record, and were BIG EAST Champions for the second straight season. They played in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans for the first time in Cincinnati history and fell to the #1 Florida Gators (12-1) by a final score of 51-24.
  • The men's soccer team will begin regular season play with a home match against Dayton at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gettler Stadium. They will then take on Detroit at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in another home match at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats went 1-1-1 in exhibition games earlier this month.
  • The women's soccer team will take on the College of Charleston at 7 p.m. Friday at Gettler Stadium. They will play Western Michigan at 1 p.m. Sunday also at home. The Bearcats are 3-0-1 in regular season play.
  • The women's volleyball team will continue their West Coast trip with a match against UC Santa Barbara at 10 p.m. ET Monday in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Bearcats claimed runner-up honors over the weekend in San Diego State's Aztec Invitational. Cincinnati then comes home for the Bearcat Invitational this weekend at Fifth Third Arena. The four teams participating in the tournament are James Madison, Kent State, Murray State, and UC. James Madison will take on Murray State at 5 p.m. Friday to start the tournament. The Bearcats will then play at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Kent State. Kent State will take on Murray State at 10 a.m. Saturday for the second day of the tournament. Also on Saturday, UC will take on James Madison at 12:30 p.m., and Kent State will play James Madison at 5 p.m. The final match of the tournament will be UC against Murray State at 7:30 p.m.

Here's what the Bearcats are up to in the Community this week:

  • Members of the football team will take part in meet and greet events at local schools this week as a part of the football squad's Cats in the Community program.
    The schedule is:
  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday: The offensive line will visit Dater Montessori
  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday: The defensive line will visit Kilgour School
  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday: Running Backs and Tight Ends will visit Roberts Paideia Academy
  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday: Wide Receivers will visit Roll Hill School
