CINCINNATI - Emily Hebbeler (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute giving the University of Cincinnati (6-2-1) to a 1-0 victory at Xavier University (4-5-0) on Sunday afternoon. The match marked the final non-conference contest for the Bearcats in 2010.

"It was a good win for us today, against our cross-town rival," said head coach Michelle Salmon. "We created a lot of chances that we need to be a little more efficient finishing on, but overall, I'm pleased with the way we played today."

The Bearcats dominated offensively from start to finish, taking nine shots in the match before the Musketeers managed to take a shot. UC held a 10-2 shot advantage in the first half with Julie Morrissey (Abington, Mass./Tabor Academy) taking three shots for Cincinnati.

In the second half UC out-shot XU, 12-4, finishing with a 22-6 shot advantage. Morrissey took four shots in the second half but it was Hebbeler who found the back of the net, in the 62nd minute off a corner kick.

The Bearcats took seven corner kicks and did not give up a corner kick to the Musketeers. Rachel Barnette (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh) finished with three saves in goal for UC, earning her fifth shutout of the season. The victory pushed UC's win streak against XU to four.

"We limited Xavier's opportunities today," noted Salmon. "We asked our team to come out and play outstanding and not give up a goal and they did just that."

Cincinnati finalizes its three-game road swing, heading to Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 24, for a 7:30 p.m. BIG EAST Conference match against the No. 7/11 Fighting Irish.
