BATAVIA, Ohio - Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) fired rounds of 75-71-71-217 to win the season-opening UC Fall Classic at Elks Run Golf Club on Tuesday (Sept. 21).
The Bearcats finished third as a team with rounds of 308-305-300=913. Florida International won the team title, carding rounds of 307-295-287=889 to top Toledo (304-299-297=900) by 11 strokes.
Dela Paz won the third tournament of her career and first since her freshman season with back-to-back one-under-par rounds of 71.
Kristin Price (Dandridge, Tenn./Jefferson County) and Jenny Linville (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) tied for 17th with identical 231 totals. Price carded a 75 in the third round, tying a career low. Linville was consistent, firing three straight rounds of 77.
Alex Carl (Union, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) was tied for 27th with rounds of 79-79-77=235.
All of UC's newcomers saw action, with Andrea Malek (Tibro, Sweden/Klippans Gymnasieskol) finishing in a tie for 27th with rounds of 80-78-77=235.
Florida International's Cristina Marin was second in the individual competition, carding rounds of 73-71-76=220.
The Bearcats will play in the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2-3 in South Bend.
