CINCINNATI - Kendall Loggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville) scored a goal for the University of Cincinnati (6-4-1, 0-3-0 BIG EAST) women's soccer team but the Bearcats lost, 2-1, in overtime against visiting DePaul University (6-4-2, 1-2-0 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium.

The Bearcats were sluggish in the first half despite a quick threat in the first minute of the match. Brooke Eberly (Cincinnati, Ohio/CHCA) fired a shot that was blocked and then passed to Loggins who shot it just over the post. The Blue Demons demonstrated more offensively the remainder of the half, outshooting UC, 9-4. Rachel Barnette (Peachtree City, Ga./McIntosh) made four saves in goal and the UC defense kept DPU off the scoreboard.

In the second half the Bearcats picked up the intensity level on offense. Logan Ballinger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) crossed the ball to Emily Hebbeler (Park Hills, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) who took a shot on goal and then Ballinger took two shots over the next two minutes. Ashley Daniels (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) played in goal for UC, and the Bearcats scored on their fifth shot of the second half when Eberly picked up the ball on the left side, located Loggins and passed her the ball for her second goal of the 2010 season. Loggins trapped the ball, turned and kept the ball low on the far side in the 58th minute.

DePaul countered with a goal of its own in the 77th minute when Tara Strickland took a pass from Arianna Foster, dribbled right, crossed to her left foot and bounced the ball into the near side of the net. With DePaul holding a 19-11 shot advantage, the matched ended, 1-1, in regulation.

Katie Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) nearly put the victory away for UC when she fired a shot in overtime that DPU's Kelsey Hoinkes was able to save. Moments later Callie Hemming took a feed from Ashleigh Goddard, dribbled free of the UC defense and scored the game-winner in the 98th minute.

Cincinnati will play its next four matches at home, taking on West Virginia on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
