CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country squads both placed fifth at the 56th Annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course at Cedarville University Friday. Thirty-nine schools competed in the women's race while 35 took part in the men's competition.
UC's Eric Finan covered the 8,000-meter course in 24:20.6 to lead UC's effort and place second overall. Oliver Book placed 11th overall with a clocking of 24:48.9. Tommy Morgan (29th/25:20.9), David Barry (38th/25:32.1), and Eric Hauser (54th/25:51.9) provided the other scoring runs for the Bearcats.
The men's team race was won by Miami (OH) after the RedHawks placed all five of their scoring runners in the Top-21 positions. Dayton's Chris Lemon took the individual crown with a time of 24:11.8.
On the women's side, Michelle McKenney cracked the Top-10, placing ninth with her effort of 17:53.0 over the 5,000-meter course. Lilian Jelimo (18:12.1) was 22nd, Alison Zukowski (18:30.1) placed 36th, Jill Glassmeyer (18:52.2) came home in 58th, and Katie Lewnard (19:06.0) was 78th.
Miami (OH) took top honors in the women's team and individual race as the RedHawks' Rachel Patterson was first with a time of 17:12.3. The RedHawks placed all five of their runners in the Top-15.
UC returns to action on Oct. 16, 2010, taking part in the Pre-Nationals Meet in Terra Haute, Ind.
