BEACHWOOD, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team finished sixth at the Telich/Sunlife Financial Invitational on Monday (Oct. 4) at Canterbury Golf Course.
UC shot rounds of 295-303=598 to finish six shots ahead of Northern Illinois (302-302=604) before the third round was canceled due to inclement weather on Tuesday.
Senior Joe Kastelic led the Bearcats, finishing tied for third with a two-round total of 598 after posting a season-low 70 in the first round to lead all golfers.
Sophomore David Tepe finished tied for 16th with rounds of 75-73=148, and fellow sophomore Zack Bates tied for 28th after finishing with rounds of 73-78=151.
Sophomore Andrew Desmarais finished with rounds of 77-79=156 to tie for a 51st-place finish, while junior Kurt Harris tied for 64th after posting a two-round total of 79-80=159.
Malone University (297-284=581) won the team title by six shots over Oakland University (293-294=587). Austin Peay State was third with rounds of 296-293=589.
Malone's Justin Boggs came in first place with rounds of 71-70=141, edging out teammate Richie Schembechler (71-71=142) and Kastelic.
The Bearcats are next in action on Oct. 11-12 as they host the UC Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.
