UC Invitational Recap with coach Martin
HEBRON, Ky. - The University of Cincinnati men's golf team finished seventh at its home fall tournament, the UC Invitational, on Tuesday (Oct. 12) at Traditions Golf Club.
Zack Bates (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) was outstanding in the first round, firing a tournament-best 65. He followed with rounds of 76 and 77 to finish eighth with a 218 total, two over par.
David Tepe (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) posted solid rounds of 77-74-69=220 to place in a tie for 15th. Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) was one shot behind Tepe, carding 74-76-71=221 for a 20th-place finish.
Ten Bearcats saw action in the tournament and Kurt Harris (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) posted a career-low round of 72 in the first round.
UC finished with rounds of 289-303-293=885, three shots behind sixth-place Bowling Green (301-298-283=882). Oakland (289-289-293=871) won the team title by two shots over Northern Illinois (294-291-288=873).
NIU's Jeff Dick won the individual title at seven under par with rounds of 68-69-72=209. Alex Misback (73-67-71=211) of Morehead State was second.
The Bearcats will be in action again on Oct. 18-19 at the Davidson College Invitational in Davidson, N.C.
