MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished tied for eighth at the rain-shortened Memphis Women's Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 26) at Ridgeway Country Club.
Players returned to the course on Tuesday morning to finish the second round, which was suspended Monday evening due to darkness. The second round was completed, but the third round was cancelled due to impending inclement weather.
Alex Carl (Union, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) fired rounds of 72-78=150 for a share of third place. Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Philippines/Miriam College) tied for 32nd (81-79=160) while teammate Olivia Dose (Goteborg, Sweden/Goteborg Hogre Samskola) was tied for 37th, one stroke behind (83-78=161). Jenny Linville (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) carded rounds of 81-83=164 to finish in a 48th-place tie.
The Bearcats shot 317-318=635 as a team, tied with Butler (320-315=635) for eighth. UAB was two shots up, finishing seventh with rounds of 322-311=633, while Southern Mississippi was sixth (318-312=630).
Illinois won the team title, posting scores of 314-301=615, six shots better than host Memphis (305-316=621) and Missouri State (310-311-621), who tied for second.
Erika Thornton (71-76=147) of Mississippi State tied for medalist honors with Southern Mississippi's Vicky Correa (76-71=147).
The Bearcats will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule at the Florida International Pat Bradley Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Fort Myers, Fla.
