INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 21-ranked University of Cincinnati volleyball team traveled to the Hoosier State on Tuesday and took care of business at IUPUI, defeating the Jaguars in three sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-14).

In a homecoming match for sophomore middle blocker Jordanne Scott (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North), she recorded game highs of 14.5 points and 13 kills in front of an announced crowd of 203 that consisted of many of Scott's friends and family.

The Bearcat defense held IUPUI to a .078 hitting percentage for the match, totaling 50 digs and 8.5 team blocks. Senior middle blocker Lindsay Upton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) had a team-high 10 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Becca Refenes (Westland, Mich./Westland Lutheran) paced UC with five assisted blocks.

Cincinnati scored the first six points of the first set and at times overwhelmed IUPUI. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Niemer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) led UC in scoring with seven points in the set, all on kills, and senior setter Annie Fesl (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) had 11 assists. Scott added 4.5 points in the first set, with four kills. Junior outside hitter Missy Harpenau's (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) seven digs helped the Bearcats hold IUPUI to a .118 hitting percentage in the first.

The Bearcats opened the second set with a 4-0 run and, with the score 5-2, had another 4-0 run to quickly separate themselves from the Jaguars. Scott led the Bearcats with seven kills on a .417 hitting percentage in the second for a total of eight points, while Fesl dished out 15 assists.

With the score tied 5-5 early in the third set, Cincinnati went on a 7-0 run, before increasing its lead to 19-9 and putting away the Jaguars. Niemer, who finished the match with 13.5 points and 12 kills, put the finishing touch on set point with a ferocious cross-court kill to end the match.

UC (21-4, 8-1 BIG EAST) extended its consecutive set winning streak to 12 and remains in first place in the BIG EAST Conference with rival Louisville after Tuesday's win.

Cincinnati hits the court next on Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. vs. BIG EAST foe Villanova and will honor its four seniors in their final home match at Fifth Third Arena.
