Football Faces Week 8 Matchup With Syracuse On Homecoming
The University of Cincinnati football team closes out a brief two-game homestand with a BIG EAST Conference matchup against Syracuse on Homecoming. UC dropped its last game to USF, 38-30, on Friday, Oct. 22, while Syracuse knocked off No. 20 West Virginia, 19-14, and has won three of its last four. The theme of this year's Homecoming is 'Transforming Bearcats Since 1819.' The annual festivities get underway with a parade at 9 a.m. Saturday on Clifton Ave.
THE SERIES
Friday marks the 11th matchup in the series with the Bearcats holding a 6-4 advantage overall against the Orange and a 3-1 edge in Cincinnati. The Bearcats have won five straight games in the series.
THE COACHES
Butch Jones, named the head coach at the University of Cincinnati on Dec. 16, 2009, is in his first season at the helm of the UC program and is 3-4. Jones most recently led Central Michigan University to a pair of Mid-American Conference Championships and three-straight bowl appearances. He holds a 30-17 overall record and a 21-4 mark in league games.
DOUG MARRONE is in his second season at Syracuse with a 9-10 record. He is 0-1 against UC all-time.
A LOOK AHEAD
UC will have its second bye week of the season next week prior to taking on games at West Virginia, against Rutgers, at Connecticut, and a senior day matchup with Pittsburgh to close out the regular season.
