CINCINNATI - Julie Morrissey (Abington, Mass./Tabor Academy) scored her second goal in as many matches but the University of Cincinnati (7-6-1, 1-5 BIG EAST) lost, 3-1, to visiting Georgetown University (10-4, 4-2 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST Conference match on Friday evening at Gettler Stadium.

Cincinnati was solid defensively to start the first half. Ashley Daniels (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) made an amazing savein the eighth minute, jumping for the ball and holding it outside the goal line, despite her body being in the goal.

Liz Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) stripped Georgetown of the ball and passed to Jazmine Rhodes (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Polytechnic) who fed Morrissey with a long pass down field. Morrissey dribbled into the box and shot past GU's Jackie DesJardin in the 13th minute for the first goal of the match.

Georgetown turned up the offensive pressure late in the first half and connected on its first goal in the 42nd minute. Ingrid Wells tapped a pass to Caitlin Durkee who lined up a shot a fired from 23-yards away, hitting the top right corner of the goal.

Both teams had nine shots in the first half while Georgetown took five corner kicks.

The Hoyas came out a different team in the second half, taking 12 shots to UC's two. Wells scored on a goal from AmySpeck in the 52nd minute and five minutes later, Camille Trujillo found the back of the net from Kailey Blain.

Morrissey and Rhodes each took three shots for the Bearcats. Georgetown held a 9-2 advantage on corner kicks for the match. Daniels finished with seven saves in goal for UC.

Cincinnati will play its final home contest of the 2010 regular season on Sunday, Oct. 10, when Villanova visits Gettler Stadium at 1 p.m. Seniors Sydney Barker (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) and Kendall Loggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) will be honored prior to the match.
