CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati women's soccer midfielder Sydney Barker (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) was named to the 2010 College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District third team.

Barker, a senior midfielder and two-year team captain, was voted to her first CoSIDA honor after earning a 3.59 grade point average as an aerospace engineering major. Barker started 16 of UC's 18 matches this season, scoring one goal on eight shots.

District IV, into which UC falls, consists of NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Barker's honor is the first since 2008 when Kim Sykes was honored on the Academic All-District second team.

The teams are voted on by members of CoSIDA. To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.
