CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's and women's cross country teams travel to Rochester, Mich. to participate in the 2010 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, Nov. 13. Hosted by Oakland University, the 10k men's race and 6k women's race will be run at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course.
At last season's NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Bloomington, Ind., the men's team finished 16th with a score of 427. Junior Eric Finan (New Richmond, Ohio/New Richmond) was the top finisher, placing 32nd with a time of 31:58.21.
The UC women's team finished 13th at the Great Lakes Regional in 2009, totaling 370 points. Senior Lilian Jelimo (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls) was the top finisher in 33rd place with a time of 21:59.35.
The Bearcats most recently competed on Oct. 30 in the BIG EAST Championships in Jamesville, N.Y. where the men finished seventh and the women finished ninth. The seventh-place finish for the men's team was its best since UC joined the BIG EAST.
Finan earned BIG EAST All-Conference honors with a seventh-place finish at the BIG EAST Championships, navigating Jamesville Beach County Park's course in 25:22.2.
Jelimo and fellow senior Michele McKenney (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) were the top two finishers for the Bearcats at the BIG EAST meet. Jelimo placed 35th with a time of 22:29.6 and McKenney finished 42nd in a time of 22:40.4.
The women's race is slated to begin at noon, while the men's race has a 1:15 p.m. scheduled start time.
