TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - University of Cincinnati cross country runner Eric Finan (New Richmond, Ohio/New Richmond) placed 60th at the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 22, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind.

The junior finished the men's 10-kilometer race with a time of 30:41.1. Had Finan placed in the top 50, the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Athlete of the Year would have garnered All-America status.

Finan qualified for the championship race after winning the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Rochester, Mich. on Nov. 13. The victory earned him NCAA Great Lakes Athlete of the Year honors, which was selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Liberty University's Sam Chelanga defended his NCAA title from last year and won the men's individual competition, finishing with a time of 29:22.2. Oklahoma State won the team competition, its second NCAA Championship in a row.

On the women's side, Villanova won the team competition and was led by Sheila Reid, who finished first individually. VU also won the NCAA race last season.
