OXFORD, Ohio -

The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team closed out a weekend at the 17th annual Miami Invitational at the Nixon Aquatic Center with some strong performances overall over the three-day meet.

Josefin Wede broke the school record in the 200 breaststroke and two Bearcats won individual events over the weekend at Miami. Wede clocked 2:15.68, a school record and NCAA 'B' time, placing third in the event. Wede also won the consolation final in the 200 IM (2:04.04), the fourth-fastest time in UC history and swam a 1:04.65 in the 100 breaststroke, which ranks among the Top-10 times in school history.

The women's team placed fourth out of eight squads with 957 points. The host RedHawks won the meet with 2,604 points. Emory (1,706) was second, followed by Oakland (1,146), UC, Denison (889.5), Ohio State (869.5), Wright State (765), and Florida International (357).

The men took sixth place with 1,081.5 points. Emory won the meet with 1,754 points. Miami (OH) was second (1,421), followed by Denison (1,220.5), Oakland (1,141), Ohio State (1,104), the Bearcats, and Wright State (811).

Brittany Teneyck won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. She tallied 305.65 in the 1-meter and a season-best 317.5 off the 3-meter board.

Steven Cunningham set a personal best and the seventh fastest time in school history with his win in the 500 freestyle, clocking a time of 4:29.12. He also placed seventh in the 1,650 freestyle and fifth in the 200 freestyle.

Nathan Williams placed third in the 500 freestyle, clocking under the 4:30 barrier as well. Williams also placed fifth in the 1,650 freestyle, seventh in the 200 butterfly, and ninth in the 200 freestyle.

Erin Frye cracked the UC all-time Top-10 in the 50 backstroke (26.86) and 200 backstroke (2:03.75).

Victoria Jacumski also earned a slot in the all-time Top-10 with her time of 2:21.81 in the 200 breaststroke.

Kirtley Krombholz (2nd in 3 meter and 5th in 1 meter)

UC will be back in action on Dec. 18, 2010, taking part in the FAU Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. The Bearcats will be in the area for their annual winter training trip over the holiday break.
